Process definitions are commonplace in the IT Service Management field. However, it is necessary to revolve towards a commonly accepted definition.

The best definition I have read as come from the ITIL version 3 (v3) Service Strategy text. In this text the definition of Process is quite rightly referred to as a 'strategic asset'. Processes are seen as coordinated sets of activities. These activities require resources and when managed correctly will lead to value creation for the process stakeholder.
