Application development forms an integral part of Application Management as the application goes through its life cycle. The ultimate goal of any application development would be to address the business’ requirements where planning, design, testing and deployment are key stages in such process. The deployment, operational use and optimization phases that follow are all regarded as areas that form part of the ITIL® Service Management framework.

It is important to realize that Application Development, Service Management and Application Management are all intertwined disciplines and by merging the Application Development and Service Management disciplines, the application manager can successfully implement more workable and manageable application to the business.
