Standard Service

A standard service is a term given to a service that requires little or no modification from the supplier in order to deliver that service to a customer. Standardized services lower the overall dependence an organization may have on a particular supplier, as standard services (similar to commodity services) are generally readily available in the market place.

Standard services also lower the overall time it takes to both procure and utilize the services of an external supplier and tend to lower the overall cost of the service (as the supplier gets to take advantage of economies of scale and can pass on the savings).
